Justin Ford-USA TODAY SportsMarc Gasol is out indefinitely after suffering a Grade 2 MCL sprain on Friday as the Memphis Grizzlies lost to the San Antonio Spurs at home, according to Sam Amick of USA Today. Gasol will not need surgery. He appeared to suffer the injury while attempting to defend the Spurs’ Aron Baynes in the post in the second quarter.
Gasol, 28, hasn’t missed appreciable time due to injury since 2009-10. In his NBA career through last season he played in 377 of 394 possible games, a 96 percent rate.

Justin Ford-USA TODAY SportsUPDATE (11:17 p.m. ET): Gasol left with a knee sprain and did not return to the game. He is scheduled for an MRI on Saturday, according to the Commercial Appeal’s Ronald Tillery.
The injury appeared to occur early in the second quarter when Gasol came up limping on the defensive end. He was not contacted on the play. He then left the game for further evaluation.
