Brandon Ingram and the Lakers buried the 76ers, and 13 other things from Thursday night’s games

Plus Ben Simmons scored another triple-double.

The Lakers and 76ers are two of the youngest teams in the NBA, but they gave us two of the most fun and competitive games of the season so far. The Lakers pulled out a 107-104 win in a close one on Thursday night, and Brandon Ingram hit a sweet game-winner courtesy of Lonzo Ball.

Ingram finished the game with 21 points, seven rebounds, and six assists. Ball nearly had a five-by-five night with 10 points, eight rebounds, three steals, four blocks and eight assists — none more important than the final dish of the game.

Joel Embiid finished with 33 points, seven rebounds, six assists, and five blocks but it just wasn’t enough. Lakers win.

Ben Simmons was still great, though

The rookie had a career-high 15 assists to go along with 12 points and 13 rebounds. He notched his third career triple-double in his first 23 career games. Only Magic Johnson and Oscar Robertson have done better.

It wasn’t one of those boring triple-doubles where you just stat-hunt, either. He razzled:

And also dazzled:

Can you say Rookie of the Year?

The Thunder may have reached their lowest point this season

Stop me if this sounds a bit familiar. OKC led the Nets by as many as 15 points in the second quarter and as many as eight with 35 seconds left to go in the third quarter, yet, they lost the game, 100-95.

This chart says it all (via Inpredictable.):

The Thunder just haven’t been able to get it done in the clutch. Their offense is too predictable, and their tough shot-makers don’t make any tough shots. That hasn’t stopped them from firing away, though.

Russell Westbrook and Carmelo Anthony went a combined 15-of-47 from the field. With the Thunder down in the game’s waning moments, they were putting up shots like this:

That’s just not going to get the job done.

Chris Paul still won’t turn the ball over

Paul finished with 13 assists and two turnovers against the Jazz on Thursday night, giving him 91 assists and 16 turnovers on the year. That’s a 5.7:1 assist-to-turnover ratio, for those of you keeping track.

Point. God.

Bradley Beal is on fire

He’s scored 85 points in the Wizards’ last two games — that’s what I like to call getting buckets. He dropped 34 in a Wizards win over the Suns to push them to 14-11.

He also combined with John Wall for a pretty funny postgame interview:

Bucket buckets.
