Thank you for joining the LeBron James Witness Registry

We have that and more in Thursday’s NBA newsletter.

Add another line to the resumé. Add another 20,000 witnesses to the list. Add another clip to the montage. LeBron James did it again. He nailed a buzzer-beater to defeat the Indiana Pacers in a crucial Game 5 on Wednesday, capping a masterpiece 44-10-8 for the King.

Is there any bigger advantage in the NBA over the past 13 years than having James on your roster? No. Is there any better play in the NBA over the past 13 years than to give James the ball? No. Is there any sight more terrifying on a basketball court in the past 13 years than James will the ball and space to dribble? No.

Did everyone on the Pacers have nightmares about James when they got to bed, if they even slept at all? Absolutely.

The upside of the Cavaliers being mired in a competitive first-round series is we get to see James at his full powers, in his full glory. We usually have to wait until the East finals or NBA Finals to get stuff like this. So thank you, Indiana, for ensuring we get some pure, unfiltered LEBRON JAMES moments here in April. Your sacrifice is commended and appreciated.

(By the way, James did totally get away with a goaltend on Victor Oladipo. He totally still would have won the game by a point.)

The Jazz opened up a 25-point lead in a close-out game on the road in the third quarter. Completely demoralizing for Oklahoma City and the Thunder. And then ... and then Russell Westbrook started hitting shots and that big deficit quickly began melting away. And then the Jazz offense quickly began melting away. And then Paul George started hitting shots. And then it was over: one of the biggest comebacks in NBA playoff history, and at least one more game in this series. What a performance.

The Raptors never make it easy, but they got the job done on Wednesday. Potential close-out game in D.C. on Friday. Word to Delon Wright.

Houston advances! The Rockets had 29 assists and four turnovers in the entire game. Like ... how?

James’ game-winner was eerily similar to his famous 2009 winner against the Magic.

Mike Budenholzer is out in Atlanta. He’d been interviewing with other teams already as it seemed like he wanted to escape the rebuild and the Hawks were willing to let him. Just breaking it off now is the most sensible path forward. Stephen Silas is the hot name for Atlanta right now.

Jeff Green missed an end-of-quarter deep three by like at least a city block. I suppose it counts the same in the box score as a three that rimmed out.

Paul Flannery on the chaos and calm of Marcus Smart’s presence.

I loved Zito Madu’s appreciation of Manu Ginobili, the trickster god of basketball.

After Wednesday’s Commission on College Basketball report recommended that the NBA kill the age minimum (thanks Condi!), Woj reported that the league and players’ union are in talks to end the rule in time for the 2020 NBA Draft. That means two more years worth of one-and-done players. We’ll see how the NCAA responds. While the policy shift is good for the NBA, Ricky O’Donnell writes that this won’t solve college basketball’s big problems.

Tyler Tynes is modestly excited but calm after the Sixers advanced to the second round in front of Meek Mill.

The Balls are leaving Lithuania. Here are the 10 most ridiculous moments from their sojourn.

Whitney Medworth on watching basketball in virtual reality.

And finally: where else but a Warriors’ game can you find E-40 taking selfies with Guy Fieri and Fieri’s SKULL CHEF necklace?

Be excellent to each other.
