Report: Kansas’ Markieff, Marcus Morris Set To Sign With Agent, Enter NBA Draft

Markieff and Marcus Morris are close to signing with an agent and officially leaving Kansas, according to a report from Yahoo! Sports’ Marc Spears. The twins met with agent Jason Martin on Wednesday, and a deal is said to be close.

As SB Nation Kansas City notes of the Morris twins, “We’ve been waiting to hear whether anyone from the KU basketball team will leave school early and head to the NBA. Obviously the Morris twins are at the top of that list....” After Kansas’ loss in the Elite Eight, KU coach Bill Self was non-committal when asked about his star players’ plans:

“They need some time to unwind and I do, too,” Self said. “It would not surprise me if a couple of guys or even more put their name in the hat. But certainly, it wouldn’t surprise me if they didn’t. It’s kind of up in the air. There’s a lot to think about and talk about.”

Now, it seems that their plans are becoming a little clearer. If they sign with an agent, they’re gone, and KU will have some major holes to fill. As for their projections in the NBA, their size and agility all but guarantee them a spot in the first round, probably close to the middle of the lottery. For now, though, nothing’s set in stone. Stay tuned for updates.
