Auburn Vs. Georgia: Punches Thrown In Final Seconds Lead To Ejections
In the final minute of Saturday’s game, when a 49-31 Auburn win was all but decided, things got ugly between the No. 2 Tigers and the SEC rival Bulldogs. Georgia quarterback Aaron Murray sustained a hard hit that took him out of the game. While Murray didn’t seem to suffer a serious injury, he left the game.
Then the fireworks went off. Auburn’s Nick Fairley, who was responsible for the hit, was targeted by Georgia’s line on the ensuing play. Fairley hit the ground and something of a brawl ensued, with Auburn defensive end Michael Goggins throwing a punch. Goggins was ejected, and two plays later, a second Tiger was ejected for throwing a punch. Under NCAA rules, these players will not be able to play in the first half of next week’s game.

In the fourth quarter, No. 2 Auburn has managed to build a double-digit lead over Georgia. It hasn’t been easy, given the Bulldogs’ offensive salvos, but Tigers quarterback Cam Newton is delivering yet another spectacular performance.
In the fourth quarter, Newton engineered yet another drive of over 75 yards. Unlike the last touchdown drive, Newton often went to the air, ending the drive with a 13-yard touchdown throw to Philip Lutzenkirchen. It was the second touchdown reception of the day for the tight end.

Saturday’s Auburn-Georgia game has evolved into an SEC shootout. The No. 2 Tigers lead at home, but the Bulldogs are giving the Auburn defense a run for its money.
Auburn provided a wild opening to the second half, as kicker Wes Byrum tapped an onside kick. He recovered his own kick -- replays showed that the ball may not have traveled the necessary 10 yards, but there was unsufficient evidence to overrule the call on the field, and the Tigers took the ball.

No. 2 Auburn was down in the scoreboard early on Saturday, but thanks to quarterback Cam Newton’s arm and legs, the Tigers have scored two unanswered touchdowns to tie the game at halftime.
Newton’s sole mistake through the air has been an interception. Apart from that, he’s 9-for-11, and those two incompletions were dropped passes. Newton, whose eligibility for today’s game was in doubt for a time, has also run for 90 yards on 15 carries. He has two touchdowns on the day, one rushing and one passing. The tying score was a perfectly accurate 18-yard bullet to tight end Philip Lutzenkirchen.
