In the fourth quarter, No. 2 Auburn has managed to build a double-digit lead over Georgia. It hasn’t been easy, given the Bulldogs’ offensive salvos, but Tigers quarterback Cam Newton is delivering yet another spectacular performance.
Auburn Vs. Georgia: Cam Newton Scores Again; No. 2 Tigers Lead, 42-31
In the fourth quarter, Newton engineered yet another drive of over 75 yards. Unlike the last touchdown drive, Newton often went to the air, ending the drive with a 13-yard touchdown throw to Philip Lutzenkirchen. It was the second touchdown reception of the day for the tight end.
On the day, Newton is 12-for-15 for 147 yards through the air, and has nearly matched that on the ground, having rushed for 139 yards. He’s one of four Tigers to rush for at least 30 yards on Saturday.
With just under seven minutes in the game, the Bulldogs decided they were in four-down territory, and they turned the ball over on downs in their own territory after Aaron Murray’s defense was stymies. Auburn now has a 42-31 lead and the ball, leaving this contest all but decided.
