Florida Hires Boise State OC Brent Pease, According To Report

The Florida Gators have been on the hunt for their offensive coordinators after Charlie Weiss left to be the head coach of the Kansas Jayhawks. The Gators have found their guy in Boise State offensive coordinator Brent Pease, according to a report by the Associated Press.

Pease has agreed to a three-year deal worth a little more than $500,000, the person said, on par with what other play-callers are making in the Southeastern Conference Pease replaces Charlie Weis, who left last month to take the head job at Kansas.

The Gators met with Pease last Friday, and the interview seemingly went so well that Pease cancelled an interview with national champion Alabama.

Pease has had stops as the offensive coordinator for the Kentucky Wildcats in 2001 and with the Baylor Bears from 2003 to 2005 before heading to Boise State. Under Pease, Boise State has ranked as one of the top offenses in the country passing the football and scoring points. In the 2011 season, the Broncos finished 11th in the country passing the football and fifth in the country in scoring with 44.3 points per game. Both were areas where the Gators struggled in 2011 under offensive coordinator Charlie Weis.
