Brent Pease Officially Named Next Florida Offensive Coordinator

The Florida Gators have officially replaced Charlie Weis with Boise St. Broncos offensive coordinator Brent Pease, the school announced Wednesday. Thus ends a reported battle with the Alabama Crimson Tide for the coach, who was expected to make a visit to Tuscaloosa at some point this week. He probably won't do that now, you see.

Pease has some SEC experience, having worked two years with the Kentucky Wildcats (meaning he ran UK's portion of the famous Bluegrass Miracle game against LSU, whose defensive coordinator at the time was current Gators coach Will Muschamp). Here he is commenting on that experience at joining forces with Muschamp:

“Being back in the SEC, working with Will and knowing what his future plan is, knowing the type of personality he has were factors,” Pease said. “He’s a lot of what I like. It’s an opportunity to coach great players. You get the best. With what I’ve done offensively, it kind of fits what his philosophy is. That’s the greatest thing.

“I know what he wants and can work within those parameters. And there are some good guys on staff there.”

Before taking over Boise State’s offense, Pease spent four years as the Broncos assistant head coach and wide receivers coach. He’s also coached at Baylor and Northern Arizona, and played quarterback in the NFL, Arena League and WLAF. Shout out to everybody who remembers the WLAF.
