SB Nation College Football Hall Of Fame Coaches: Vote On Fry, Osborne, Schembechler, Tressel

Four coaches from Big Ten schools square off in the fan vote for the SB Nation Hall of Fame.Follow @SBNationCFB

If the SEC took the first head coaching spot, the Big Ten will certainly get the fan vote. Four of the finest coaches from that conference’s schools -- even if Tom Osborne isn’t “really” a Big Ten guy -- are up for induction. One of them had a somewhat bumpy, um, retirement -- but he was still a pretty good coach.

This poll will stay open all weekend, with the full list of winners revealed Monday morning.

Hayden Fry, Iowa Hawkeyes, North Texas Mean Green and SMU Mustangs
Was 143-89-6 at Iowa, winning three Big Ten championships. Revolutionized offenses in the Big Ten with passing game. Won 19 games in final two years at North Texas.

Tom Osborne, Nebraska Cornhuskers
Three national championships, 13 Big 8 or Big 12 titles, another Big 12 North title. Won almost 84 percent of his games at Nebraska, going 255-49-3.

Bo Schembechler, Michigan Wolverines and Miami RedHawks
Rivalry with Woody Hayes at Ohio State was infamous. Won or shared 13 Big Ten titles. Won fewer than eight games once in 21 seasons.

Jim Tressel, Ohio St. Buckeyes and Youngstown State
Won four Division I-AA national championships at Youngstown State before moving to Ohio State. Won a BCS national title and played for two more. Also claimed half-dozen outright or split Big Ten championships. Never finished a season unranked after first year in Columbus.

Previously inducted coach: Bear Bryant of Alabama, Texas A&M, and Kentucky.

The SB Nation College Football Hall of Fame is a summer project involving all of the network’s excellent college football blogs. Each community could nominate five of its own for inclusion, with 10 of those nominees being inducted by our selection committee, which included reps from most FBS conferences. The remaining 10 will be chosen by public vote Wednesday and Thursday.
