This Week In Schadenfreude: The Hog Containment Field Has Been Shut Off

piss temperature reading: could be hotter Hoo, boy, it’s Arkansas time. They lost to Louisiana-Monroe in overtime. This was the equivalent of the EPA jerko turning off the containment unit in Ghostbusters. You may have already seen the crazy lady with the hat and the pig nose singing. I’m… not at all surprised. That is exactly what should happen after a loss to Louisiana-Monroe by Arkansas, and this is what should happen during it:
The giggling girls with the camera are brave, evil things. That guy: Scott Tenorman of the Week. If you want that in American Sign Language, they’ve got that too.

Getty ImagesAquacise: Because bulldogs need to look more ridiculous, America.
Remember that that happened. Remember also that the weekend of the Bulldog started before any team took the field, and that Mississippi State mascot Bully is merely testing the future of American fitness: incentivized underwater treadmill plodding. Mississippi State not only beat their first SEC West opponent not named “Ole Miss,” but also just copyrighted the next million dollar weight loss franchise. (Do not laugh: you would gladly let someone feed you bacon while you ran on a treadmill.)

(Photo by Gregory Shamus/Getty Images) Getty Images6.6. Yards per play allowed by Colorado in a 30-28 loss to Sacramento State. That’s almost what USC averaged against Syracuse (7.1). That makes me sad, so I’m just going to move on.
9. First downs allowed by Maryland in a 36-27 win over Temple. The Terrapins gained just 4.8 yards per play and turned the ball over four times -- still a work in progress, to say the least -- but the defense showed some fire. Temple gained just 230 yards, and running back Matt Brown (10 carries, 31 yards) found no room to run whatsoever.

Boyett’s career as a Duck could very well be over. Boyett is currently a fifth-year senior, and it’s unclear whether he will apply for a medical redshirt season or declare for the 2013 NFL Draft.
Here is what Boyett had to say about his injury:

Getty ImagesTexas A&M and Missouri welcomed two of the SEC East’s most storied programs to College Station and Columbia on Saturday for their SEC debuts, promising Florida a date with Kevin Sumlin’s terrific and flashy offense and Georgia a clash between Mizzou’s spread and the Bulldogs’ “old man football.” Those old hands both fell behind early, and trailed at halftime, and yet the Gators and Bulldogs ended up doing enough to have their fans rain the SEC’s preferred “ESS EEE CEE” chant down ... on SEC opponents.
I spent my Saturday in College Station, where A&M fans seemed stoked to be part of the SEC and out of the huge shadow cast by Texas: SEC flags flew, SEC/A&M shirts numbered in the hundreds, the Aggies’ band spelled out SEC at halftime. Unfortunately, Texas A&M’s defection from the Big 12 didn’t solve the second half problems that plagued it in 2011.

There might not be too much movement in the AP Top Ten other than Arkansas falling out of it after their upset to Louisiana-Monroe, but LSU makes a decent case after their dominance in Baton Rouge that they’re more worthy of being the second-ranked team as opposed to USC. Could it very well be Alabama and LSU at the top of the polls once again this Sunday afternoon?

Boyett led the Ducks with 108 tackles last year and piled up 17 tackles in Oregon’s Rose Bowl victory over Wisconsin. Boyett was expected to be the leader for the Ducks defense on their backline thanks to his great experience and skills, but his loss could be a huge blow to the national championship aspirations of the Ducks.
Boyett was replaced by Avery Patterson for Saturday’s game against Fresno State.

Duke’s one-game win streak abruptly came to a halt when they faced the No. 25 Standford Cardinal. While Duke may not be on par with some of their Pac-12 rivals, Stanford’s offense did not disappoint by beating up on the Blue Devils, 50-13.
This was a confidence booster game for the Cardinal. The true test comes next week when Pac-12 rival, and currently ranked No. 2, USC comes to town.

Edit: The radio network has retracted the report and Wilson’s status is unclear.

Box Score Hero: Brown, who led the Bulldogs with eight receptions for 106 yards and a couple touchdowns.
Rankings Ramifications: It’s unlikely this game will have any impact on Georgia’s rankings. No. 8 Arkansas will likely fall after losing to Louisiana-Monroe, while South Carolina, tied for No. 9 with idle West Virginia, beat an overmatched East Carolina squad 48-10. No team ahead of the Bulldogs figures to fall far enough to move them up in the rankings.

After the Mizzou defensive tackle declared Georgia’s style of play to resemble that of “old man football” and “Big Ten football” earlier in the week, Mark Richt and UGA fans have adopted senior citizen status as a symbol of honor. Silver britches, silver hair.
Georgia overcame a shaky opening half via a decisive conclusion to rudely welcome their new SEC East mates, and as the clock ran down, the many Georgia fans in attendance let it ring out:

I’m not sure anyone was fooled by UCLA’s weird “We’re kicking a field goal, wait lol no we’re not” formation. We know the struggles of the UCLA kickers by now. We get it. And I think everyone else does, too.
So instead of kicking a field goal, UCLA lined up in the typical place-kicking formation, then motion into some kind of alien getup. And then chucked it deep. Predictably, this idea did not work at all.

The No. 4 Oregon Ducks took care of business at home and beat the unranked Fresno State Bulldogs by a score of 42-25. The Ducks controlled the game throughout the four quarters, but the offense uncharacteristically slipped in the second half.
The Ducks opened up the game as according to their custom, with a quick four play drive that resulted into a touchdown and a five play drive that also got into the endzone. The defense also was too strong for the Bulldogs offense, allowing just a pair of field goals in the first half.

It took a pair of lightning delays for officials to finally call off the slaughter underway Saturday at Doak Campbell Stadium, where No. 6 Florida State needed less than three full quarters to defeat the Savannah State Tigers, 55-0, the second-straight humiliating loss the Tigers have suffered to a highly-ranked Football Bowl Subdivision team.
Savannah State was completely outclassed by the Seminoles, mustering only 28 yards of total offense on 33 plays. Last week, the Tigers were annihilated by No. 18 Oklahoma State, 84-0. Savannah State will receive a reported $860,000 for enduring the two beatdowns, which will go a long way towards meeting its athletic department’s $5.1 million budget.
