The vaunted quarterback-receiving duo of Troy Smith and Delanie Walker has helped the San Francisco 49ers tie up the Denver Broncos 10-10 in the fourth quarter at Wembley Stadium in London.
NFL Week 8, Broncos Vs. 49ers: Delanie Walker Sets Up Troy Smith TD, 10-10 Tie
Smith found Walker, a backup tight end, twice for 65 yards trailing 10-3, which set the 49ers up at the one-yard line of Denver. Smith then capped off the drive with a one-yard touchdown run, tying the game. Smith’s touchdown negates a one-yard touchdown from Broncos backup quarterback Tim Tebow earlier in the third quarter.
Denver extended their lead to 10-3 in the third quarter, but could have had a 14-3 lead. A touchdown pass from Kyle Orton to Jabar Gaffney on a flea-flicker was negated by a chop block penalty called on Broncos running back Knowshon Moreno. The penalty took six points off the board and forced Denver to settle for a 32-yard field goal from Matt Prater.
Orton and the Broncos now take over looking for the go-ahead score with just under 12 minutes remaining in the contest.
