NFL Picks, Week 10: Previewing And Predicting All The Games

The Broncos offense is the opposite of the Chiefs as it’s based on the pass. The Chiefs have a very talented but very young secondary. They’re vulnerable at times especially if the Chiefs can’t generate a pass rush. The strength of the Chiefs defense lies in stopping the run, which shouldn’t be an issue against the Broncos.

The Chiefs are 1-2.5 point favorites, and even in some places, depending on where you look. If the Chiefs stick to what they do best, it’s hard to see how they don’t come away with a win. The Chiefs often have trouble in Denver so it will be a close game but I’ll take the Chiefs by a field goal.

The Bucs are fairly balanced ranking 19th in both passing and rushing and 20th overall. The Panthers will likely want to run the ball against the Bucs as they rank 30th against the run. Plus, they haven’t exactly been lighting it up in the passing game and likely won’t with what we’ve seen from Clausen this year.

The Bucs are a touchdown favorite against the Panthers and that’s the way you should pick. Expect the Bucs to take care of business by a touchdown or more at home against the struggling Panthers.

The Browns offense is averaging about 19 points per game on the season but 32 points in their wins over the Saints and Patriots so you can bet their goal this game is going to be to hit 30 points. They’re better at running the ball than passing but the Jets defense is one of the best in the league at stopping the run. The Browns will have to take advantage of the passing game at some point to have a good shot in this one.

The Jets are three-point road favorites and, even with the Browns last two victories, I don’t think you can take Cleveland here. The Jets defense is too much and New York takes it by a touchdown.

I’m going to roll with the Bills in this one as they’ll finally get their first win of the season. They’ve been playing teams tight the last three weeks and that will continue as they beat the Lions by a field goal.

The Vikings offensively can do a lot of things but it starts with Adrian Peterson. With the way Favre has been playing at times this year --- erratic --- you hope Peterson can get it going early in the game. The problem for the Vikes? The Bears defense is excellent this year. They’re fourth overall in points scored and third in stopping the run. Most teams don’t completely stop Adrian Peterson so they’ll be containing him but also forcing more throws from Favre. This year, it’s not always a good thing for the Vikings when Favre is throwing a lot.

The Vikings are one point favorites in Chicago, which is somewhat surprising considering the records of each team. I’ll take the Vikings in this game, assuming their pass rush is up and rolling like it was last week. The Bears win a tight NFC North battle by a field goal.

Believe it or not, Tennessee is the top scoring offense in the league through Week 9. They’ve scored over 30 points four times this season and over 20 points seven times. They don’t pass the ball -- 31st in pass attempts -- but that’s OK because Chris Johnson can handle things pretty well. He’s got 721 yards and eight TDs on the season and some think those numbers may shoot up with the arrival of Randy Moss. Who knows how much of the offense Moss will actually understand but his presence alone may help push Tennessee’s run game. Statistically the Dolphins defense is in the middle of the pack so from that standpoint Tennessee has an advantage here.

The NFL odds say the Titans are 1.5 point favorites in Miami. I’m taking the Titans by a field goal or more. It’s hard to bet on Pennington coming in and immediately making a difference.

Line: Jaguars are one point favorites.

Prediction: I’m surprised the Jaguars are favored in this game but I’m going with the Texans by a touchdown.

Matchup: Cincinnati Bengals vs. Indianapolis Colts.

Breakdown: The Colts are the better team and they should win but you have to wonder what, if any, momentum will be taken from the Bengals Week 9 game against the Steelers. They scored 14 fourth quarter points there and nearly pulled off the upset. If the Bengals can use some of that momentum, and get Chad Ochocinco more involved, they could make this interesting. You know what you’ll get from the Colts -- efficient offense and a leaky (at times) defense.

Line: Pick.

Prediction: This is a difficult one to predict but I’ll take the home team. The Falcons are solid all around and they’ll beat the Ravens by a field goal.
