For a game that was not only a divisional battle but also one with playoff implications for one of the two teams involved, the Detroit Lions and Green Bay Packers combined to do a lot of nothing.
NFL Week 14 Scores And Results: Lions Squeak By Packers In 7-3 Win
The two teams scored a total of 10 points, with the Green Bay Packers settling for a field goal, from Mason Crosby, on 4th and 1 from the Lions 25 yard line (a 42 yard field goal). The Lions finally broke through with a 13 yard touchdown pass from Drew Stanton to tight end Will Heller.
Aaron Rodgers was knocked out of the game with a concussion and that led a typically explosive Packers offense to turn into a stagnant and inefficient one. Before leaving the game, Rodgers had only thrown 11 passes, completing 7 for 46 yards and an interception. Back quarterback Matt Flynn didn't manage to do much better, completing 15 of 26 passing attempts for 177 yards and an interception.
The Lions, behind third string quarterback Drew Stanton, sacked the Packers quarterbacks four times and picked them off twice, along with recovering a fumble, shutting down the high powered Packers offense. Stanton overcame his two interceptions to throw the winning touchdown and caused problems for the Packers defense with his legs (4 rushes, 44 yards).
The 8-5 Packers lose ground in the NFC wild card, and NFC North division champion, hunt.
