More than a handful of casual observers were curious to see how the better-than-expected, division-leading St. Louis Rams would hold up on the road against the defending world champion New Orleans Saints. Their answer? Not well.
Drew Brees threw for 221 yards and three touchdowns - two of which were caught by Marques Colston - and Malcolm Jenkins added a 96-yard interception return for a touchdown as the Saints blew the Rams out in the Superdome, 31-13.

The Lions, behind third string quarterback Drew Stanton, sacked the Packers quarterbacks four times and picked them off twice, along with recovering a fumble, shutting down the high powered Packers offense. Stanton overcame his two interceptions to throw the winning touchdown and caused problems for the Packers defense with his legs (4 rushes, 44 yards).
The 8-5 Packers lose ground in the NFC wild card, and NFC North division champion, hunt.

Trailing 17-10 to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the fourth quarter, on-the-rocks Washington Redskins quarterback Donovan McNabb led his team on a 13-play, 75-yard drive, finding Santana Moss for a six-yard scoring toss late in regulation.
Nice job, Donovan. You can’t blame him for what happened on the next play, either: Hunter Smith botched the extra point snap, and the Buccaneers held on for a 17-16 win that was critical to their playoff hopes.

The Cincinnati Bengals opened up a 7-0 lead on the Pittsburgh Steelers at Heinz Field when Carson Palmer found eligible tackle Andrew Whitworth for a one-yard touchdown pass. That lead lasted until the second quarter, when things got a little out of hand for Cincinnati.
Palmer, who has made it a specialty of his to throw pick-sixes - interceptions returned by the opposition for touchdowns, for those of you in the dark - and continued that trend on Sunday. Troy Polamalu intercepted a Palmer throw and returned it 45 yards for a score to tie the game at seven, and linebacker Lamarr Woodley took a pick back 14 yards for a score in the fourth quarter to put the game on ice for Pittsburgh. Shaun Suisham added three field goals to Pittsburgh’s two defensive scores in their 23-7 victory.
