The Green Bay Packers are sitting at 8-5 and in danger of missing the playoffs as they come up against a grueling stretch in their schedule, including a Week 16 matchup with the New England Patriots on Sunday Night Football. And they may have to go through all of it without their quarterback, Aaron Rodgers.
Aaron Rogers Concussion: Packers Unsure If He’ll Be Ready For Patriots Game
Rodgers suffered a concussion in the Packers Week 14 loss to the Detroit Lions and head coach Mike McCarthy said the Packers will exercise caution with him as he deals with his second concussion this year.
Coach Mike McCarthy told reporters Monday that the Packers would "take the high side of caution" with Rodgers, who has suffered two concussions in the past 10 weeks. Rodgers' short-term prognosis will be clearer by the middle of the week, McCarthy said, but for now Matt Flynn is the only healthy quarterback on the 53-man roster.
The Packers have discussed elevating Graham Harrell from the practice squad but nothing has been decided. Suffice to say, missing Rodgers for even one week would put a serious dent in the Packers playoff chances. They were able to generate only three points against the Lions last week when Rodgers went out.
Suddenly the Packers, who were considered one of the NFL’s best teams, have their season on the brink.
