The Green Bay Packers said on Friday that a decision on Aaron Rodgers's playing status -- Rodgers suffered a concussion last week against the Detroit Lions -- would not be a game time decision. Instead, they would determine his status by Saturday. Former Packers beat writer Greg Bedard said he's been "hearing" that the Packers decided early in the week that Rodgers would sit.
Aaron Rodgers Concussion: Packers Coach Talking As If Matt Flynn Will Start
Head coach Mike McCarthy hasn’t publicly declared Rodgers as out on Sunday but the way he was talking on a radio interview on Friday highly suggests Flynn is in and Rodgers is out.
“He’s had a good week of practice, and this is always a big hurdle for a quarterback when he gets his first start. This is something he’ll really benefit from. He’s actually put together two good days of practice. I’m impressed with the way he has thrown the ball.”
You can pretty much pencil Flynn in on Sunday against the New England Patriots. Rodgers' concussion last week was his second this year and McCarthy's words indicate Flynn will likely be starting.
Barring a change, plan on Rodgers sitting out, which is a blow to the Packers playoff hopes.
