Vince Young Expects To Start, Calls Himself ‘An Elite Quarterback’

It hasn’t been an easy time for Vince Young over the last couple of years, from his well-documented emotional issues to the heated trading of words with Tennessee Titans coach Jeff Fisher to the announcement that Young will leave the Titans. Still, he’s not acting like he’s downtrodden. In fact, Young still sees himself as a starter, and not just any starter.

Definitely I am a starting quarterback, an elite quarterback in the NFL. I want to go ahead and start.

The issue here, of course, is not that Vince Young doesn’t have an immense amount of talent and potential; he’s arguably coming off his best season as a passer when you get past the sample size and the reason for it. The question is whether anyone will give him the reins to the franchise after what happened in Tennessee.

Because Vince Young is making it clear that he’s expecting those reins to be handed to him sooner or later.
