Vince Young On The Tennessee Titans: ‘Jeff Fisher Was Treating Me Like A Young Man’

Shortly after the Tennessee Titans announced their intent to trade or release QB Vince Young, the quarterback spoke to The Tennesseean’s Jeff Wyatt. Young thanked owner Bud Adams and coach Jeff Fisher, but says he never felt he had Fisher’s trust and that Fisher treated him “like a young man.”

Young, according to Wyatt’s Twitter stream:

I have nothing against Jeff Fisher. I just wish he would have trusted me a little more … In the five years I was there, I was always looking over my shoulder. I feel like [Fisher] was continuing to treat me like I was a young man when I’d really grown up a whole lot … Everything was my fault.

Young also insisted he’ll “continue to keep working.”

Some NFL team is going to take a chance on Young. It didn’t work out in Tennessee, but Young is no Ryan Leaf or JaMarcus Russell by any means. At times in his NFL career he’s demonstrated both on-field dominance and excellent leadership skills, but rarely for extended stretches.
