Vince Young, Jeff Fisher And The Titans: Who’s To Blame?

We’ve been reading through all the reactions to the news that Vince Young will not return to the Tennesee Titans in 2011 and one quote from Vince Young caught my eye.

"I like Jeff Fisher as a person, as a coach and everything. I just didn't feel like he trusted me."

Well...should he have trusted Young? Music City Miracles wonders the same thing.

Let me first start off by saying that Fisher did a lot of things wrong in this whole deal, but VY has to understand that trust is something that is earned. Why in the world would Jeff Fisher trust him when he couldn't show up for a plane on time his rookie year, didn't want to go back in a game in his second year, and was still missing or being late to meetings in his 5th year?

I couldn’t agree more with this take. For every reason Fisher had to trust Young, he had several not to. Young had given no indication that he had turned the corner because, every time you thought he had something would happen.

Someone will take a chance on Young and maybe he’ll even be successful at this point but he shouldn’t be wondering why, after five years, he’s leaving the Titans.
