Vince Young Will Be Traded Or Released By Tennessee Titans, Says Bud Adams

The Tennessee Titans will not retain QB Vince Young through the offseason, according to an NFL.com report. The relationship between Young and coach Jeff Fisher had grown extremely rocky throughout the year, with Fisher reportedly issuing a it’s-him-or-it’s-me ultimatum. Titans owner Bud Adams:

“Today, I informed our general manager Mike Reinfeldt to move forward with plans to begin the process of identifying the next quarterback for our franchise,” Adams said in a statement released by the team. “He will inform Vince Young’s agent that Vince will not be on our roster next season.

Young has been hit-or-miss during his five seasons at Tennessee since being drafted No. 3 out of Texas. He’s been injured and benched repeatedly, with Kerry Collins’ career catching a second wind as Young’s backup.

This doesn’t necessarily mean Fisher’s career with the team is assured, however. With Rusty Smith the only potential quarterback of the future on the roster, the team could opt for a clean sweep all around.
