Nnamdi Asomugha To Become Free Agent: Raiders Fans React With Tears

So it seems that Nnamdi Asomugha’s pending and unexpected free agency has shocked and dismayed Raiders fans.

Our Silver and Black Nation captures the despair at the free agency — and hope that Asomugha chooses to stay in Oakland — in an open letter to Asomugha:

I know that this was the first year in your career that you didn’t play for a losing team and you are well within your rights to leave Oakland, but, please don’t. You mean more to this city than just football. You are hope for all of our struggling children whom you’ve taken under your wing. In short, you are Oakland.

...

You deserve a long term contract and I am sure that Mr. Davis will reward you for being a loyal Raider, so please stay. I literally have tears in my eyes as I write this. I didn’t know that I could care so much for a football player, but I think that these tears represent the children in the city of Oakland and the loss that we would all feel if you were to depart.

Yeah, Asomugha matters to Raiders fans.
