DeSean Jackson Makes His Recruiting Pitch To Nnamdi Asomugha

Earlier this week we noted that the Philadelphia Eagles could pursue CB Nnamdi Asomugha, who will be leaving the Oakland Raiders and entering free agency, if that ever comes. Asomugha's arguably the best cornerback in the game so wanting him on your team is a no-brainer.

Eagles WR DeSean Jackson, a fell Cal alum like Asomugha, said on 97.5 The Fanatic on Thursday that he's already talked to Asomugha about joining the Eagles and plans to talk to him again.

“I’m going to try and see what I can do; when I leave here I’m going to make a call,” said Jackson, when egged on by the hosts. “During the Pro Bowl I was actually telling him, ‘Come on man, you know we need you over here.’ So I definitely wouldn’t mind calling him.

As one of the best corners in the game, Asomugha will be desired by every single team. Unfortunately, every single team can’t afford his market value so only a few teams will realistically have a shot at him. Last week, Peter King of SI.compredicted the Eagles would be one of those teams.

“He has a lot of options, man,” said Jackson, who was on promoting his foundation’s upcoming gala on Friday to benefit pancreatic cancer research. “That’s a lot of money on his plate...The money he’s making is crazy. Hopefully he can take a pay cut and come to the Eagles, and he can see Mike Vick, D-Jackson, Maclin, Celek - we have a good chance over here, man.”

The Eagles would be pretty special at that point. Any team really would be significantly upgraded with Asomugha in the fold.
