We've been talking about which teams may be interested in free-agent-to-be WR Randy Moss once the lockout is lifted. The Tennessee Titans likely aren't an option while, if Moss had his way, it sounds like he would be back with the New England Patriots though we'renot sure that will happen.
Randy Moss To New York Jets? It Could Happen, Report Says
So who could take in an occasionally disgruntled veteran who could have quite a bit of talent remaining?
Rex Ryan. The Jets head coach has been known to bring in veterans before and, according to Pro Football Talk, the Jets have some interest in Moss. It makes sense because the Jets would not only add a veteran receiver but also keep him away from the Patriots, if they were to express interest.
The Jets could also need some insurance depending on how the labor deal works out. Depending on what the league's rules are they may not have a shot at retaining the services of WR Braylon Edwards and WR Santonio Holmes. Moss could be insurance if one of those two were to leave via free agency.
The problem is that if the lockout continues into August or September, Moss may not be as valuable because it’d be more difficult for him to learn a play book and hit the field in the short amount of time teams would have to prepare for the season.
Interesting rumor and a move that would make sense. It’s something to keep an eye on. Check out Gang Green Nation for more on the Jets and their offseason plans.
