Steve Smith Attacked By Giants Fans On Facebook

Steve Smith's departure from New York for Philadelphia is one more thing that has helped tip the balance of power in the NFC East toward the Eagles. But telling his Facebook fans that he was heading to the City of Brotherly Love got Smith feedback like this:

↵Steve i hope you blow out ur knee again. By this time next year you will be selling rock in Compton.↵That’s mean-spirited, racist, a complete over-reaction to a football player choosing to play for a different team ... and about the kindest of the comments Bleeding Green Nation screencapped. And one person liked it on Facebook.

↵The primary lesson here, I believe, is that people can be stupid and cruel, and that sports can bring that out of them. Secondary lesson: not all fan hatred directed toward Philly athletes is from Philly fans.
