The 49ers look to get establish some consistency from their offense, while the Raiders will look to build on a strong defensive performance in week one. The San Francisco 49ers and Oakland Raiders square off Saturday evening for their annual preseason clash. Although it is only a preseason game, the Bay Area rivals will still be playing for some measure of bragging rights.
The 49ers are coming off an ugly performance against the New Orleans Saints in which their offense could get nothing going with any consistency. Colin Kaepernick showed some spark but made plenty of rookie mistakes, while Alex Smith struggled to even get passes off as the Saints blitzed the 49ers like crazy. The 49ers will use this weekend's game to test out a lot of their blitzing. Additionally, with their starting cornerbacks a bit banged up, Tramaine Brock, Chris Culliver, Tarell Brown and Phillip Adams will get a chance to make a big impact.
The Raiders got a solid performance from their starting defense last week before the depth players gave up a 24-18 defeat to the Arizona Cardinals. On Saturday against the 49ers, the starting offense will look to play a little longer and make more of an impact. Rookie Denarius Moore has built some of the biggest buzz in Raiders camp and will look to continue building on it against the 49ers. Another player to watch is second year guard Bruce Campbell who has impressed the Raiders coaching staff thus far.
