The Cincinnati Bengals travel to the Meadowlands to face the New York Jets in a Sunday week two preseason contest. The Bengals are coming off a 34-3 drubbing at the hands of the revitalized Detroit Lions. Cedric Benson fared well with a 6.2 ypc, but other than that not a whole lot went right for the Bengals. Their top two picks, WR A.J. Green and Andy Dalton, did connect on four passes and neither left the game with an injury, so that’s a plus. Although Andy Dalton seems locked in as the starting QB heading into the regular season, Bengals fans will be keeping a close eye on his development during the preseason
The Jets are coming off a tight 20-16 loss to the Texans. The Jets didn’t wow anybody, but for a first preseason game the first string did more than enough. The big story heading into week two is the absence of Shonn Greene. The Jets running back has been ruled out for Sunday’s game because of a “low-grade skin infection”, which could be code for a staph infection. This will be a story to follow over the next week or more if Greene misses extended time.
