Patriots Vs. Lions: Matt Stafford Impressive, Detroit Dominant In 34-10 Win

It's just a preseason game, but the Detroit Lions 34-10 win over the New England Patriots on Saturday has to be encouraging for fans of the oft-maligned franchised. The Lions came storming out of the gate and never looked back, establishing a 27-10 lead by halftime and adding a fourth quarter touchdown for good measure.

Matthew Stafford was outstanding in the first half, completing 12 of 14 passes for 200 yards and two touchdowns. Stafford found Nate Burleson for a first yard touchdown before finding Tony Scheffler and Aaron Brown for second quarter touchdowns, padding the Lions lead at the time. Drew Stanton added the final touchdown of the game, hitting Derrick Williams for four yards and the score in the final quarter.

Tom Brady completed 12 of 22 passes for 145 yards while throwing a touchdown and an interception. Brady and Wes Welker connected for a 44-yard touchdown in the second quarter to cut the Lions' lead to 17-10. But that was as close as the Patriots would get.
