Drew Brees, New Orleans Saints Look Sharp Dominating Oakland Raiders
We know the Saints offense is very, very good. They’ve added Ingram to the mix which bolsters the running game and the rest of the offense should be relatively continuous. Brees lead the Saints through offseason workouts longer and more often than any other team so keep an eye on their offense early in the season to see how much that helped. Judging by the performance in Oakland, that was time well spent in the offseason.
The Saints move to 2-1 on the preseason while the Raiders lose their third straight.

Leftwich went down hard in the second half, reaching out with his left arm to break his fall. At the time, it appeared as though he may have suffered some kind of left wrist injury, though we later learned he’d broken his arm.
The news is not good for Leftwich, according to Steelers’ beat writer Ed Bouchette. While nothing is official, Bouchette expects Leftwich to head to injured reserve, ending his season.

While any injury involving the word neck can be scary, Welker briefly mentioned that he’d be fine following the game. Here’s the brief statement from Boston Herald writer Karen Gurgeian.
Still, Welker is worth keeping an eye on. Neck injuries are always serious business, and he will likely be examined further on Sunday. But for now, it appears the Patriots, and Brady, can breathe a sigh of relief.

According to the Fox broadcast, Clark will undergo further examination and will not return. The report, passed along by Bears Insider, could be bad news for the NFL veteran.
While it’s too early to speculate, the impact to Clark’s knee did not look good. The fact he was unable to walk off the field, or put weight on his knee, is none too promising, as well. We’ll be back with more as it becomes available.

Outside of Arian Foster’s hamstring injury, it’s been a successful first half for the Houston Texans. At the half, the Texans lead the San Francisco 49ers, 24-7. Matt Schaub has been stellar, Foster was effective before his injury and the Houston offense is firing on all cylinders.
Schaub completed 14 of 22 passes for 168 yards with a touchdown and interception in the first half. His lone touchdown pass came when he found Owen Daniels for 12 yards and a score in the second quarter. Before Foster left the game, he had carried the ball eight times for 38 yards, with backfield mate Derrick Ward adding a rushing touchdown. The Houston defense got in on the act, as well, with Troy Nolan taking an interception return back 73 yards for the touchdown.

According to ESPN’s Chris Mortensen, the injury did not appear to be serious, though there’s been no official word on what ails the Steelers’ lineman.
Trainers were seen attending to Pouncey on the sideline after he removed his left shoe. His return is questionable, and it’s unlikely the Steelers try to push him back into action on Saturday. This is, after all, the preseason.

“He got pushed,” Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said of Gurode, the longest-tenured member of the team. The 33-year-old Gurode is due $5.5 million in base salary and the club likely does not want to expose him to injury. Gurode opened up training camp with a minor knee injury, but is healthy right now.
”We like him a lot,” Garrett said of Costa according to the Fort Worth Star-Telegram. “He’s done a very good job, a very good job for us since he’s been here. He made a very strong impression on us right at the outset last year as a free agent. We call him a little bit of a bulldog. He’ll fight every down from the snap to the whistle and sometimes afterward. When you have guys on your football team like that, that’s a real good thing.”
