Wes Welker Injury: New England Patriots WR Leaves Game With Neck Injury, Says He’s Fine

The New England Patriots received a scare on Saturday night as Wes Welker left the game with an apparent neck injury. Welker was removed from the game in the second quarter after attempting to make a tackle following a Tom Brady interception. He didn't return following the play, and it was later announced he'd suffered a neck injury.

While any injury involving the word neck can be scary, Welker briefly mentioned that he’d be fine following the game. Here’s the brief statement from Boston Herald writer Karen Gurgeian.

Wes welker just walked out. He said he was okay.

Still, Welker is worth keeping an eye on. Neck injuries are always serious business, and he will likely be examined further on Sunday. But for now, it appears the Patriots, and Brady, can breathe a sigh of relief.

Welker caught a 44-yard touchdown pass and finished with three catches for 71 yards, leading all receivers, in the Patriots 34-10 loss to the Detroit Lions on Saturday night.
