Even with all the excitement Cam Newton created following his NFL rookie record of 422 passing yards in a Week 1 debut, the Carolina Panthers aren't going to be favored in their Week 2 contest against the Green Bay Packers. The defending Super Bowl champion Packers are 10-1/2 point favorites over the Panthers, according to Odds Shark.
NFL Odds Week 2: Packers Vs. Panthers
The Carolina Panthers are underdogs against the Green Bay Packers this weekend. Will Cam Newton have something to say about that?
The Green Bay Packers held off the New Orleans Saints last Thursday for a 42-34 victory. Quarterback Aaron Rodgers was solid, throwing for 312 yards and three touchdowns. Rodgers and his offense shouldn't have too difficult of a time beating the spread.
Cam Newton could come out and play like a confused rookie this week, but the Packers' defense surrendered 419 passing yards to Drew Brees. Still, Newton can't deliver single-handed a win over the Packers. He could help close the point spread with his play-making ability, but he's still leading a team that needs to show it's moved beyond last season's 2-14 record.
