Colts vs. Chiefs: Indy clinches playoff spot with win

As Stampede Blue states, this season is already an unqualified success even with a regular season game and at least one postseason game to go:

Indianapolis will play at either Cincinnati or Baltimore in round one of the playoffs depending on who wins the AFC North between the two next week.

Wayne’s numbers in Week 16 put him over 1,300 receiving yards on the season and gave him five touchdowns on the year. After a bit of a down year last season, Wayne has re-established himself as one of the better receivers in the NFL.

Fantasy Impact: Last week was Wayne’s worst game of the season, so it was good to see him bounce back against the Chiefs.

Charles carried the ball 22 times for 226 yards and a touchdown, though he did lose a fumble as well, so it may be that the Chiefs are rubbing off on him. Overall, Kansas City gained 507 yards and still lost. There is no “Suck for Luck” this year, and they are clearly don’t have any luck as it is.

Oh, Chiefs.

Currently, the Texans are the top seed followed by the Broncos, Patriots, Ravens, Colts and Bengals. The seeds are not set in stone with the rest of Week 16 and all of Week 17 still to play, but the AFC playoff picture is looking more and more complete by the minute.

Winners: Colts’ fans as they have the playoff spot they’ve so desperately yearned for since last season.

Losers: Brady Quinn. He can’t even pull out a win when his running game goes absolutely bonkers. Under 50-percent completion rate, two interceptions and no touchdowns? Not going to cut it.

His TD run showed that he’s just about back from his ACL tear as he made some nice open-field cuts and did a nice job of using his blockers. The Colts have always struggled to keep the run in check for a while now and Charles could be on his way to his second 200-yard day on the ground this year.

The Chiefs have nothing of the sort on their minds. In fact, they would be helped by losing as they continue a sad quest for the No. 1 overall pick. If Kansas City loses its final two games, it’s guaranteed to be on the clock.

The Colts are looking to continue their surprise season coming off a 2-14 season a year ago, and a win in this game would put them into double digits in the win column for the first time since the 2010 season.

Similar predictions are up at CBS Sports, with only one of eight pickers taking Kansas City, while the smaller Yahoo! sample is unanimous in predicting an Indianapolis win.
