Redskins vs. Eagles game recap: RG3 leads Washington to 27-20 victory

Thee Washington Redskins beat the Philadelphia Eagles, 27-20, to stay in first place in the NFC East and set up a Week 17 matchup with the Dallas Cowboys for a playoff spot. Robert Griffin III returned from injury to lead the Redskins with two touchdown passes.

The Washington Redskins remained in the driver's seat in the NFC East with a 27-20 victory over the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia. The Redskins have now won six straight games.

Robert Griffin III returned to the field after sitting out last week with a knee injury and completed 16 of 24 passes for 198 yards and two touchdowns while being intercepted once. Griffin III did not run the ball much, presumably to keep his knee healthy, carrying two times for four yards.

Philadelphia's own rookie quarterback, Nick Foles, led the Eagles down the field in the game's final minutes for a potential game-tying drive, but an intentional grounding penalty in the red zone ended the game.

At 9-6, the Redskins control their own playoff destiny as they are atop the division heading into a Week 17 matchup with the Dallas Cowboys. The Eagles fell to 4-11 on the season.

Winners: The Redskins were certainly glad to have their franchise quarterback return after the knee injury and he led them in the victory, throwing two touchdowns. Griffin III went over the 3,000-yard mark on the season in the victory and reached 20 passing touchdowns. Alfred Morris continued his stellar season, bouncing back from a slow first half to gain 91 yards on 22 carries and score a touchdown.

Losers: Despite throwing for more than 300 yards and a touchdown, Foles was intercepted once and fumbled once. Both of the rookie’s turnovers led to points for the Redskins and he under-threw a potential game-tying touchdown pass in the final seconds.

Reactions/tweets/comments from fans/media:

Could this have been Andy Reid’s final home game at the helm of the Eagles?

Kevin Durant is excited:

Best/worst stat of the game: Two Redskins players got to record marks on Sunday. Morris tied the Redskins rookie touchdown record with 10 and Kai Forbath set the NFL record for consecutive made field goals to begin a career with 17.

Fantasy studs/duds: Griffin III made a return to strong fantasy play, throwing two touchdowns and 198 yards. Jeremy Maclin had a solid day for his fantasy owners, leading all receivers with 116 yards and catching a touchdown. For more fantasy news you can head over to SB Nation's Fantasy Football page.

Odds/Gambling: The Redskins were five-point favorites on the road against the Eagles and covered that spread in the seven-point victory. For more lines from around the league, check out SB Nation’s NFL Odds page.

Injury info: Foles reportedly injured his throwing hand in the first half, but continued to play the rest of the game. Washington safety DeJon Gomes suffered a knee injury on the opening kickoff of the second half but left the field under his own power.

Next team on the schedule: The Redskins finish the season at home against the Dallas Cowboys next Sunday, while the Eagles will travel to face the New York Giants in Week 17.
