In the biggest surprise of Week 10, the St. Louis Rams went into Indianapolis and crushed the first-place Colts.
Rams-Colts: Austin shines in upset

Michael HickeyAustin caught only two passes, but amassed 138 yards and scored on both receptions, going for 57 and 81 yards respectively. The speedster also had a 98-yard punt return for a touchdown, giving him a trio of scores for the day.
Over at Turf Show Times, Tyler Bishop wrote about Austin’s breakout performance:

Michael HickeyLuck had no support as he aired the ball out for 353 passing yards before being pulled late for Matt Hasselbeck. He threw three interceptions as he was unable to read the Rams’ defense and ignore with the team’s potent pass rush. Poor blocking and non-existent running backs caused the offense to break down and the second-year quarterback was unable to turn the team around.
Tavon Austin will be a player to watch moving forward, but it’s hard to have too much faith given his inconsistency earlier in the season.

Pat Lovell-USA TODAY SportsEntering the fourth quarter Richardson has five carries for two yards, with a long run of five yards -- this means that multiple attempts have ended behind the line of scrimmage and the team has managed just 10 rushing yards on as many attempts.
This isn’t the case of a running back learning the offense or struggling in a new scheme, but rather a continuation of a downward spiral that began when he was drafted. Entering Sunday’s game Richardson had a total of 248 rushing yards in six games, running at an inefficient 3.0 yards per carry.

Pat Lovell-USA TODAY SportsFittingly, he celebrated his 81-yarder in the third quarter with this special dance.
Here’s the touchdown itself. Austin came out from behind a bunch formation on the left side of the line. It got him into the middle of the field with hardly any coverage at all. And with his wheels, it’s impossible to catch up.

Sam Sharpe-USA TODAY SportsYou can also see a GIF of the play here. It could have easily been a rookie error as Austin initially wanted to let the ball fall dead before electing to field the punt at the 2-yard line when it took a Colts bounce. He was able to have the last laugh, weaving through the Indianapolis defense and extending the Rams’ lead.

Troy Taormina-USA TODAY SportsThe second-year running back was traded to the Colts after the first two games of the season but has struggled to really get going in Indianapolis. Richardson is averaging just 3.1 yards per carry this season and has not eclipsed more than 60 yards rushing in a game since joining the Colts. For the season, the young running back has 353 yards on 114 carries and two touchdowns.

Troy Taormina-USA TODAY SportsThe Colts strongest attribute, what makes them so difficult to beat despite not having a high-powered offense or great defense, is that they don’t beat themselves. Luck has thrown just three interceptions and fumbled only twice, helping Indianapolis to be the most mistake-free team in the NFL.
The only real significant injury affecting St. Louis happens to be sidelining the player the Rams can least afford to lose. Bradford will miss a significant number of games for the second time in his young career, and the timetable for his return next year is not yet known. But, some players have managed to come back from ACL tears in less than a year.

Ron Chenoy-USA TODAY SportsBy all accounts, that’s what will happen. Indianapolis opened up as 13-point favorites in the matchup, though the line has narrowed slightly throughout the week. Some of the top books have them favored as low as 9.5 points, but that’s still heavily favored, according to OddsShark.
The over/under for the matchup opened at 44 points and it’s hovering around there on most books. That total has gone over in five of St. Louis’ last six games, an under in eight of Indianapolis’ last 12 games.
