Fantasy football sit/start advice, Week 10: Colts vs. Rams

We take a look at who should start and who should sit when the Indianapolis Colts take on the St. Louis Rams on Sunday.

The St. Louis Rams are set to take on the Indianapolis Colts in a Week 10 matchup on Sunday. St. Louis (3-6) is riding a three-game losing skid. They were expected to make the jump from bad team to good team this season, and that clearly has not happened. Indianapolis (6-2) is on a two-game winning streak and riding high with some very tough wins this year.

Both teams do have some fantasy options -- though one clearly more than the other. We’ll talk about both below, starting with the home team:

Colts

Start: Andrew Luck, T.Y. Hilton

Luck has had some poor fantasy games, but he’s also had plenty of good ones. He doesn’t throw a lot of picks, and the Colts should best the Rams pretty handily in this one. He’s worth a start. Hilton should be the primary beneficiary when it comes to Luck’s big numbers.

Deep Start: Darrius Heyward-Bey

Heyward-Bey has been more inconsistent, but with Reggie Wayne out, his role will need to increase. He should have a solid game here.

Sit: Trent Richardson, Donald Brown, Coby Fleener

The running game is a mess right now. Richardson continues to be unimpressive and Brown can’t consistently get the ball in his hands. Fleener is a sit because the Rams have been very effective against tight ends this season, and have faced some of the best.

Rams

Start: Zac Stacy

Stacy has 261 yards over the past two weeks, including 127 yards in Week 9. He also had two touchdowns in that game. The Colts have a poor run defense, so Stacy is really the only smart option for St. Louis at this point.

Sit: Kellen Clemens, Austin Pettis, Chris Givens, Tavon Austin, Jared Cook

Only Cook is recommended to sit based on matchup, as the Colts are particularly strong against tight ends. The rest are on this list because the Rams’ passing game has been flat-out bad this season. Nobody there is a smart start in any situation at this point.
