The Baltimore Ravens have placed second-round restricted free agent tenders on tight end Dennis Pitta and defensive lineman Arthur Jones, according to Aaron Wilson of the Baltimore Sun on Twitter. The second-round tender is worth $2.02 million apiece.

As restricted free agents, the Ravens have the right of first refusal if another team elects to sign one of these players to an offer sheet. If the Ravens decide to let the player walk, then the team that signs them will have to offer up a draft pick as compensation.
Wilson also noted that tight end Ed Dickson was tendered with an original-round tender. That equates to a third-round tender, as Dickson was a third-round pick out of Oregon in 2010. His tender amount is $1.32 million, which is the lowest amount for the tenders this year.
With Anquan Boldin being traded to the San Francisco 49ers, the Ravens certainly would like to hold on to some of their receiving options for quarterback Joe Flacco. Pitta seems to be the tight end of the future in Baltimore, and given his production in 2012 (61 receptions, 669 yards and seven touchdowns), his tender amount of $2.02 million seems like a bargain.

Pitta also had 19 receptions, 163 yards and three touchdowns in the postseason, with one touchdown coming in the Super Bowl.
Jones was originally a fifth-round draft pick, and has been a situational player for the most part. He worked his way into a starting role and had 47 tackles with 4.5 sacks this past season. He figures to be part of the Ravens’ defensive line for the foreseeable future, and a long-term deal does seem likely at some point.
