Broncos re-sign Kevin Vickerson, according to report

The Denver Broncos have re-signed defensive tackle Kevin Vickerson to a two-year contract.

The Denver Broncos have re-signed Kevin Vickerson to a two-year contract, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter on Twitter. It's a rare re-signing, in that we usually see players test the open market a little prior to re-signing.

Still, Vickerson put pen to paper just a few hours after the new league year began at 4 p.m. Tuesday. It’s likely that the two sides had the parameters on an extension worked out, but Vickerson wanted to see if there was significant interest or not.

Vickerson was a starter for the Broncos in 2012, though he took a pay cut to remain with the team. He was paid just $1.2 million in 2012. Still, he was a big part of the team starting alongside Justin Bannan this past season. He had 28 solo tackles, 40 combined, two sacks and a forced fumble last season.

Vickerson is 30 years old and has been in the league since 2007. He’s getting up there in years, but he doesn’t have a whole lot of wear and tear on his body. Last season was the first year of his career that he was a starter from start to finish.
