The New England Patriots continue to look for veteran options in free agency, now hoping to add a signature pass rusher to their defense.

Bill Belichick's team are routinely active in free agency, and Abraham is precisely the kind of player they target -- veteran options looking to make a deep run into the playoffs. If he signs with the Patriots it would be a return to the AFC East, where spent the first six years of his career as a member of the New York Jets.
New England's pass rush was effective in 2012 (amassing 37 sacks), but lacked a single signature pass rusher. The team showed a lot of promise with first round draft pick Chandler Jones, who was an early-season rookie of the year candidate before getting injured; he failed to register a sack in his final five games of the season. Meanwhile, Rob Ninkovich led the team with 8.0 sacks, and 5 forced fumbles.
The week the Patriots have added wide receiver Danny Amendola, and running back Leon Washington. Abraham would likely be another one-year option for New England, and immediately bolster their pass rush.
