Bears rumors: Tom Zbikowski ‘on radar’ for Chicago

The Bears are looking for some defensive help in the secondary and are rumored to have interest in Tom Zbikowski.

The Chicago Bears need to make a move or two to bolster their secondary and one player that may interest them is safety Tom Zbikowski, according to the Chicago Sun-Times.

Zbikowski, who played his college football down the road for the Notre Dame Fighting Irish, has proven to be a capable if not standout NFL player. Drafted back in 2008 by the Baltimore Ravens, Zbikowski was a special teams ace who found his way onto the field with the likes of Ray Lewis, Ed Reed and Terrell Suggs.

After spending his first four seasons wearing black and purple, Zbikowski went to the original Baltimore franchise, the Indianapolis Colts. Last year with Indy, Zbikowski played in 11 games and started all of them.

With Major Wright and Chris Conte penciled in as the starting safeties, Zbikowski would have an outside chance to start for new head coach Marc Trestman, but most likely would be used in a depth/sub-package role.
