Browns sign Kellen Davis to 1-year contract, according to report

Cleveland added a tight end to its roster on Friday.

Tight end Kellen Davis and the Cleveland Browns have agreed to terms on a one-year contract, according to a report by Pro Football Talk. The five-year veteran spent his entire NFL career up to this point with the Chicago Bears.

With the Bears, Davis appeared in 80 games and was primarily a reserve over his first few seasons; since 2011, though, he’s made 30 starts. Over the course of his career, he has racked up 47 receptions for 529 yards and 11 touchdowns. In 2012, he set career highs in both receptions (19) and receiving yards (229), though he was released by Chicago earlier this month.

Davis was originally selected in the fifth round of the 2008 NFL Draft by Chicago. The Michigan State product played in 43 games for the Spartans and was an All-Big Ten honorable mention during his senior season.
