Bills rumors: Alan Branch visits Buffalo on Tuesday

Free agent defensive tackle Alan Branch is visiting the Buffalo Bills on Tuesday and the team is “interested in getting something done.”

Free agent defensive tackle Alan Branch is visiting the Buffalo Bills on Tuesday, according to Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports. The Bills appear highly interested in "getting something done," according to the tweet.

Branch is entering his seventh year in the league, though only his last two have been productive. He played well with the Seattle Seahawks over those two years, accumulating 64 tackles with four sacks. Originally, he was a second-round pick by the Arizona Cardinals in the 2007 NFL Draft.

He’s a big-bodied interior lineman and has been noted as an exceptionally strong run-stuffer in the past. He’s well-suited to play the nose tackle position, but wouldn’t be out of place in a four-man line by any means. At 6’6’ and 325 pounds, Branch is definitely an imposing body on the defensive line.

In the 3-4 defense, Branch would serve as the nose tackle alongside ends Marcell Dareus and Kyle Williams. In that scenario, Mario Williams would likely play outside linebacker opposite Manny Lawson. In all, it sounds like a pretty strong front and that's why the Bills are interested in getting a deal done.

Branch is one of the better names currently on the market at the position so it will be interesting to see what he gets, but defensive linemen haven’t been given the biggest contracts this offseason.
