NFL free agent tracker: Akeem Jordan visits Bengals on Tuesday

The Cincinnati Bengals will host free agent linebacker Akeem Jordan on Tuesday.

Free agent linebacker Akeem Jordan will visit the Cincinnati Bengals on Tuesday, according to Aaron Wilson of The Baltimore Sun. Jordan hasn't been especially active this offseason, but with most of the big names gone, he should be able to find a team soon.

The fit with the Bengals makes sense at this point, as well. Jordan has been a key contributor on special teams since the Philadelphia Eagles brought him in as an undrafted free agent in 2007. With Dan Skuta signing with the San Francisco 49ers, the Bengals have a linebacker-shaped hole on their coverage units, which could definitely be filled by Jordan.

On defense, Jordan offers key depth at multiple linebacker positions. He made seven starts in 2012 and had 44 tackles with two forced fumbles in 14 games during the season. He played in 82 games over his six seasons with the Eagles, including 34 total starts with 262 tackles, two picks, a sack and the aforementioned two forced fumbles.

He was a backup at multiple positions in Philadelphia's defense, including both outside linebacker spots and even occasionally at inside linebacker. Given that the Bengals have been looking for linebackers this offseason, including a passing interest in a trade for Rolando McClain, signing Jordan would seem to make a lot of sense.
