No arrest warrant issued for Aaron Hernandez yet in Lloyd case, per report

Contrary to earlier reports, a new update states that no arrest warrants have been issued for Hernandez.

No arrest warrant has been issued for New England Patriots tight end Aaron Hernandez, or anyone else in the homicide investigation, according to the Boston Globe and the Globe's Wesley Lowery on Friday. The North Attleboro, Mass., district court confirmed to several media outlets that no warrant had yet been issued.

This is a sharp turn from earlier reports Friday that stated an arrest warrant had been issued for Hernandez on charges of obstruction of justice in connection to the ongoing murder investigation of Odin Lloyd. As Lowery goes on to note, however, this latest update from a law enforcement source doesn’t indicate that Hernandez is in the clear. Warrants and arrests could still be coming; they also might not. Right now, though, nothing of the sort has happened.

In short, like most ongoing investigations, this one is constantly evolving. Being on the outside of the investigation itself means the general public will not always be on top of, or supplied with the most up-to-date, or correct, information.

Before this latest update, Hernandez was barred from Gillette Stadium by team staff on Thursday. Another search warrant issued on the tight end’s house reportedly found his home security system, including video surveillance, purposefully destroyed. Hernandez also turned his cellphone over to investigators in pieces. Police will additionally try to determine if there’s any connection between the case and Hernandez hiring a house cleaning service on Monday.
