Aaron Hernandez appears to hold gun in court photos

Photos released Thursday in court documents allegedly depict Aaron Hernandez holding a .45-caliber handgun.

More court documents were unsealed Thursday in the Aaron Hernandez case. Among the documents are photos taken from Hernandez’s home security system allegedly depicting him with a handgun. Boston reporters Ted Daniel of the local FOX affiliate and Brian Ballou of the Boston Globe tweeted out some of the photos, as well as further details of the case.

Hernandez is charged with the first-degree murder of Odin Lloyd.

The photos are not particularly high quality, though Daniel says that state prosecutors likely have better images. The alleged weapon can be seen in Hernandez’s left hand.

Daniel also reported more details of Lloyd’s death. Investigators found that Lloyd was shot five times by a .45-caliber gun, including two times on the ground. The documents also showed that Hernandez and Lloyd “engaged in extensive text and voice” communication hours before Lloyd’s death.

Hernandez also told investigators that he did not have the phone number for co-defendant Ernest Wallace when in fact he did. Wallace was allegedly with Hernandez when Lloyd was murdered.

Another associate, Carlos Ortiz, was reportedly in the same car as Hernandez, Wallace and Lloyd on the night of the murder, and claimed that Wallace told him that Hernandez pulled the trigger. Ortiz was described as a “witness” at the crime scene in the released court documents.
