Aaron Hernandez indicted for murder
The former Patriots tight end faces life in prison for the shooting death of Odin Lloyd.
Hernandez is accused of murdering Lloyd, who was found shot to death in a North Attleborough, Mass., industrial park in June. Two friends of Hernandez’s, Ernest Wallace and Carlos Ortiz, were also allegedly present at the shooting. Wallace has been charged on an accessory to 1st degree murder (after the fact), while Ortiz has yet to be indicted.
According to Ortiz, Hernandez and Wallace picked up Lloyd in the early hours of June 17th and then stopped on the side of the road for what appeared to be a bathroom break. After hearing gunshots, Wallace and Hernandez returned to the car without Lloyd and then departed.
If convicted, Hernandez faces a possible sentence of life in prison without parole. The former NFL tight end, who has continued to proclaim his innocence, is also facing five additional gun charges related to the death of Lloyd.
