NFL roster cuts: Paul Hazel, Jeremy Cain among first Jaguars let go

The Jaguars trimmed their roster down to 75 players on Sunday. Not a whole lot of big names were let go in this round of cuts.

The Jacksonville Jaguars released 13 players on Sunday, bringing their total roster figure to the 75-man limit two days before the league deadline.

More Jaguars coverage at Big Cat Country

Most football fans probably won't recognize these names, but Jaguars blog Big Cat Country thinks the biggest surprise is long snapper Jeremy Cain. Cain has been with the team since 2009, but the Jaguars signed two long snappers in the offseason, making the 33-year-old expendable. He was set to make $1 million in 2013.

Here's the complete list of cut players, via BCC: Cain, Luke Ingram, Ken Parrish, Mark Asper, Lionel Smith, Maalik Bomar, Jeremiah Green, J.D. Griggs, Paul Hazel, Jamal Miles, Ray Polk and Roderick Tomlin. The team also placed Jeremy Harris on injured reserve, ending his rookie season before it started.

The Jaguars now have about a week and one more preseason game to finalize their 53-man roster for the regular season.
