NFL roster cuts: Falcons release 11 players
Brian Banks survived the first round of roster cuts Sunday. 11 other players weren’t so lucky as the Falcons trimmed their roster down to 78.
There aren't too many big names or surprises in this early round of cuts, and the Falcons were no different. Here's the complete list, per The Falcoholic: Tight ends Tim Biere and Colin Cloherty, fullback Devonte Campbell, linebacker Nick Clancy, quarterback Seth Doege, defensive ends Cam Henderson and Brandon Thurmond, offensive tackle Jeff Nady, running back Donald Russell, safety Troy Sanders and center Matt Smith.
Linebacker Brian Banks survived the first round of roster cuts. He was signed in the offseason after spending five years in prison due to a false rape conviction. Banks' comeback lives on for at least one more week, but the Falcons still have to make three more cuts before Tuesday.
