Aaron Hernandez’s arraignment scheduled for Sept. 6

The former Patriots tight end faces a first-degree murder charge among others.

The Fall River Superior Court arraignment for Aaron Hernandez is scheduled to take place at 2 p.m. Sept. 6, the Bristol County District Attorney's Office announced on Tuesday. An arraignment date for Hernandez's co-defendant, Ernest Wallace, has not yet been announced.

Hernandez, 23, faces a first-degree murder charge for the killing of 27-year-old Odin Lloyd and also faces five gun charges. A separate investigation regarding Hernandez’s involvement in a 2012 double homicide is ongoing.

The former New England Patriots tight end was arrested on June 26 and released by the team later that day. A fourth-round selection in the 2010 NFL Draft, Hernandez accumulated 175 receptions for 1,956 yards and 18 touchdowns in three seasons with the team.

The Patriots will kickoff their 2013 regular season two days later on Sunday, Sept. 8, with a game against the Buffalo Bills.
