Before Thursday night's game between the San Francisco 49ers and the San Diego Chargers, Seneca Wallace told Niners head coach Jim Harbaugh that he no longer wants to play football, according to Matt Barrows of the Sacramento Bee.

Wallace signed with the 49ers in August to compete for the backup quarterback position behind starter Colin Kaepernick. As it turns out, Wallace lost his desire to play football, got cut and left the job to former Cleveland Browns signal-caller Colt McCoy.

Wallace played seven years in the NFL, including the first five with the Seattle Seahawks before joining the Browns in 2010 and 2011. Wallace didn't suit up for a game last year after flaming out in the preseason with the New Orleans Saints.
His best year was in 2008, when Wallace played in 10 games and threw for 1,532 yards, the only time he eclipsed the 1,000-yard barrier. He ends his career with 31 touchdowns and 18 interceptions.
