The Dallas Cowboys officially released 21 players on Saturday to meet the league's 53-man roster requirement before a 6 p.m. ET deadline. The barrage of cuts came all at once through an announcement from the team.
NFL roster cuts 2013: Cowboys trim team down to 53 players
QB Alex Tanney is among the 22 players Dallas cut before Saturday’s deadline.

Among those released Saturday include quarterback Alex Tanney, wide receivers Anthony Armstrong and Danny Coale, cornerbacks Sterling Moore and Micah Pellerin, and linebacker Caleb McSurdy. Coale and McSurdy were draft picks by the team in 2012.
In addition to the many cuts, Dallas also placed safety Matt Johnson on injured reserve. A former fourth-round pick, he started for Dallas in the preseason opener this year, but injured his foot in the second quarter. He'll be out for the season after being placed on IR.
