Titans cut Fernando Velasco, place Marc Mariani on injured reserve
The Tennessee Titans released center/guard Fernando Velasco and 10 others to reach the 53-man limit on Saturday.
The full list of players released is below:
Defensive tackle Stefan Charles, linebackers Tim Shaw, Scott Solomon and Jonathan Willard, cornerback Khalid Wooten, safety Corey Lynch, tight end Jack Doyle, quarterback Rusty Smith, fullback Collin Mooney, wide receiver Rashad Ross and the aforementioned offensive lineman Velasco.
Verlasco was the starting center last season, and is able to play both guard positions as well. He played well on the interior of Tennessee's line last season. Unfortunately, the team signed Andy Levitre, Robert Turner and Chris Spencer on the interior, in addition to drafting both Chance Warmack and Brian Schwenke.
It does seem likely that Velasco will be able to find work prior to the start of the regular season, however. His versatility should have him signed relatively quickly.
The team also placed wide receiver Marc Mariani on injured reserve, ending his season.
